It seems like our choices  for rear shocks are dwindling.  As noted, Progressive no longer sells the new 444s for the Valk due to clearance issues people were experiencing.  I can't find the discontinued 440s new with warranty anywhere.  I have heard Works shocks are nice if not a little pricey.  That leaves one other option (that I know of) -- Progressive 412s.  I would want HD springs and 13" in length.  Has anyone tried the 13" 412s, and what do you think of them, especially under a load and/or two up?

I've had 412's in 13" and 12.5". The 13's I had were regular rate springs and the 12.5's had HD springs. The 12.5's came the closest to stock ride height and served me well. With that being said, I just replaced them with Works Performance built to my weight and riding style. Daryl at F6 Customs can fix ya up on the Works. I really don't think they were that much more than what that high end Progressives are and they are built for YOU.

I've got a set of 13" 412's in with hd springs & for the money you pay for them they are good.
You must remember that they are at the cheap end of the market.
Great value for money & ride is quite good.
cheers...

Here ya go:

and this for sale:

I have not ever seen a post about the stock Honda Valkyrie shocks leaking and those that indicate their shocks are finished are usually looking for justification to buy new shocks. Of course, this is my opinion.

Thanks, this is going to take some more research.  I think I found some 13" 440s online.  I am not familiar with Hagon shocks but they look decent.  I emailed them to find out of they make a heavy duty  spring.

THE 412'S ARE NOT EVEN CLOSE TO BEING AS GOOD AS THE STOCK SHOCKS.  GET A PAIR OF WORKS.

I put on a set of 12" HD 412 Progressive, mainly to lower the bike some and hoped for a better ride (the ride was already really good). It did lower like I was looking for but, the ride is not good at all. Really rough with one up, not terrible with 2. I am really considering putting the originals back on.

If I had my money back I would buy from Darrell.

Anyone interested in a slightly used set of progressive 412 HD. Maybe 1000 miles on them?

And these... do we ever talk about these here?

There's conflicting info about 444s here... there's at least one member who says they
have 444s on their Valkyrie...

After a lengthy ride this summer I noticed some wispy smoke rising from my left muffler. My left shock was leaking fluid on top of the muffler and burning off. Luckily I found a nice set of OEM I/S shocks at Pinwall for a decent price. Chrome and decals were good, looked almost brand new. I rarely ride two-up and the I/S shocks work fine.
