..waiting to see where the next InZane event will be. I still would really like to set up a group ride in the Maggie Valley area in early May and probably will regardless. If Inzane is going to be there right after that then it would be an "either/or" thing for me. Honestly, I'm not a huge fan of massive rally's like that and probably would not go to InZane anyway, even though it sounds like a grand time, as many of you have attested to before. I used to do them with the GWRR group for several years and just not my cup of tea. I was asked to be patient and hold off on planning anything up there, and I have been, but..time is running out for me to begin planning anything. Would appreciate y'alls thoughts and you can PM or Email me (jparker255(deletethispart)@cfl.rr.com) with them in case you would rather not openly post here.

It must be complicated I'm sure and I would not want to plan something that big. They do contracts, hotel deals and such I have read. I'm not being critical of them, I would just like to know. |

( 60 to over 100 people in less then a month ) I not sticking up for the VRCC Staff but he not putting on a major event. And yes ,I've been there and done that........ ( 3 years worth ) and I would like to go to... So don't get your panties in a wad... |

Hey Jeff, I'm glad you mentioned this and plum forgot to get with you at Sherrie and Jerry's cottage.
We know a couple of folks wanting to get up toward Maggie Valley to check out there new camping facilities, trailers, etc. and do some riding up that way. Not being a camper myself any longer, was kinda thinking a two prong plan. Not good for all but some might be interested. I was going to take the autotrain up to Lorton, ride all of Skyway drive south, overnight in Waynesboro, then work the BRP, overnight Roanoke, Boone, Asheville if needed maybe, then toward Maggie Valley for a meet up with other goers. milage, overnights always based upon weather, and body. They can be some long runs with enjoying the scenery and safety first.
Most likely based on a ten day trip. I have done this in the past, it involves a few hotel stays along the way as it's by no means a one day trip. Coming homeward, overnight in Athens, Valdosta if needed then home. Just throwing this out there.........
As I had mentioned before, I'm hoping to make HotGlues event in Texas, and plan make Inzane if it's east of the Mississippi +- a few hundred miles as I have opened up the provided Inzane date window.
Just some food for thought!

I was Just wondering, I know it takes a lot to Plan any Event and I know that some have given Jeff a hard time about trying to put one together in Maggie Valley Due to their Uncertainty and it may Interfere with Inzane. Five months gives me Plenty of time to Plan, and I am looking forward to going if it does happen. Heck I may even be able to attend Both, if I knew the Dates. |

James, if you (and others) do this, let us know, several local guys (me too) would probably like to join up for the ride South. I am a few miles North of Lorton VA.

 Would do Jess! The A train arrives in Lorton at 10 am, then about 125+- miles to Front Royal and Skyline Drive. Before the I dotters and t crossers come out of the woodwork; I meant to type Skyline Drive.(earlier post) Had our Florida Skyway bridge running off of the typing digits. James

That would be great TJ and I'm sure I could benefit from your experience. Your kind of a legend around these parts and we have only had a brief opportunity to meet at John's house last December. And please understand, I'm not being critical of the VRCC at all. I can only imagine how much work goes into planning an event of that size and I'm sure they are working as fast as they can to get a site chosen. My problem is I have to pick my vacation time kind of early in the year. Oh and..no bunched undergarments here! |

I'm going to start putting together some dates. Penny, I believe, found out whats going in that area in May and we need to avoid their bike fest and the Memorial Day weekend. So, I'm thinking early May, first or second week..weekend?..long weekend? all week?

Honestly Pennie, you can ride all week and not do the same road twice. I have no idea when Inzane will be announced. But at least I have not received any posts or emails yet.  I have started checking motels in the town of Maggie Valley, which seems like the best place to be. Availability seems to be pretty good. I would like to get into a smaller motel with good reviews, that has a fire pit area, creek would be nice and not too pricey...not too much too ask huh? I'm then planning on contacting them about what we want to do and their willingness to accommodate us all, or most of us anyway. I'm not really sure how many we will have but I have already had a couple of folks from the surrounding area contact me about coming too. I, myself, will most likely stay a week to make it worth my while. Some may only want to stay the weekend or long weekend. I'm thinking about arriving on a Saturday and leaving on the following Sunday. That would be the 3rd through the 11th or the 10th through the 18th. I know some will want to camp, and as Terry can attest to, their are LOTS of campgrounds in that area. So that's where I'm at so far. Speak up y'all. Maggie fills up pretty fast so the sooner we can put something together, the better. This could be a blast! |
