While re-installing my air horns, I dropped a bolt, and of course, it disappeared.   tickedoff  But, while looking for it, I spotted a bare wire under the carbs.  WTF?  It was light green and had a sheath or cover and I knew it was OEM.

So, off with the radiator and I discovered I must have pulled this wire out of the metal connector a while ago, like two winters ago, when I was re-installing the PITA plastic air guide plate.  It's the wire in the picture just below the green coolant temp sensor and it goes in the collar under the thermostat bolt.  I fixed it.

My question is, why didn't I have any negative effects? None that I noticed anyways, in almost two years.  My coolant fan worked, not that it comes on that much up here in NE, but I rode two Feb in FL.

What's up with that?

If I'm following the wiring diagram correctly with these old eyes/glasses  without a magnifying glass, it's a redundant ground for about everything  that can be grounded. It doesn't look lt green from the picture, but, lt gr to gr is the ground. So, apparently the other ground connection is doing its job. It looks to the same regardless of year.

Patrick, I'm with you on that, I couldn't follow the diagram either without getting a headache.

It's LIGHT green.  Hard to see in the pic.

Hopefully your right, and it's redundant.

the green plug is the wiring for the temp sensor, just to the left of it is a wire terminal mounted under the the bolt. now if you look below the green connector you will see a black sleeve with the offending wire sticking out of it. it should be connected to the wireless terminal.
