Just the smallest amount between the middle and rear spark plug on the left
engine block. Wiped it off with a towel. Rode my 2008 Valk another 100 miles and can barely see any more oil in the same area, but does appear that some is collecting.
Ideas??

Intake o-rings maybe?  When they're leaking you often will get an oily residue seep out. Worth a look anyway, especially if never replaced or have quite a few miles on them.

Thanks !!!

The intake runners have an O ring under them to seal off the runner and head from sucking in any air. Replace them with a #123 O ring in Viton or Silicone material. The OEM rings are probably Buna N which doesn't hold up.

Do I need to pull the fuel tank, carbs etc or can I just go to work on the runner right there where it joins to the engine block ? Where do I get the correct O rings?

It's been a while since I did it w/o removing the carbs, but it can be done.  The challenge is putting them back on and making sure the O-rings don't fallout of the channel in the bottom of the intakes.  I believe I used some grease or silicone to hold them in place.

You release and move up the top clamp on the intake, remove the two bolts at the bottom and they slide out.

Can't tell you where to get new ones, someone will post soon.

Take the 2 bolts off each intake and loosen the rubber boot at the carb and the intake will come right off. I replaced all of mine last year in less than an hour.  cooldude
