Getting ready to install my chrome triple tree and forks on my 01 Standard.

As both are chrome, will I have a problem with slippage between two slick surfaces? I don't want the forks to slip when I hit the first bump.

Think of "roughing up" the inside part of the triple tree with sandpaper.

Thoughts? Thanks

Don't mess up the surface.

Smooth surfaces have more drag than rough surfaces.

Ok, that's a new one for me.  As I have been walking on a smooth surface of ice for the last two weeks, I have a hard time understanding your statement.  Can you explain it?

Put two pieces of clean window glass together they don't slide easily.

A good example is drag racing. Notice the drive tires are "Slicks".
The more contact area the less spin.

Yeah but the drag tires and asphault are 2 different materials. One course and one smooth. As for the glass it creates a suction what the 2 panes are placed together. i would rough up the inside of the triple trees. Most parts you buy such as in clamps either have a textured pattern on the inside or are sent with friction tape. Just my .02

nevermind, i changed my mind. the triple trees are pinch clamps, no need to rough anything up.

If slicks provided such great traction we would all be driving around on them.  Got any more examples?  I'm still not convinced.

You would be driving around on them until it started raining. Total contact doesn't allow for water to exit so the slick rides on top of the water. Steering is basically eliminated.

Triple tree clamp? I would avoid any chrome in your visual field. The fuel cap thingy drives me nutz on the road.
Just sayin.
