I got up under the bike and turned the pilot screws down to 1 1/2 turns, it was set to 2 turns. rode for a day or two no problems. got home on tuesday and decided to run to the store solo, it fired right up. after I came out of the store it would NOT start tickedoff there is a nice slope in their parking lot so I coasted and bump started it to get it home (somehow that worked uglystupid2) wednesday after work I repeated the process and turned UP the pilot screws to 1 3/4 turns and now it seems to be fine.

(the popping at idle went away too  Undecided )

Kinda sounds as though you're using 38s.
