I came across a good deal on a set of show chrome fork mounted wind deflectors which I am considering purchasing.

I have a 98 tourer and run the baker air wings. I dont really have any problems with buffeting currently. The bike is pretty comfortable to ride in cooler weather. I am wondering if these will make any difference in cooler colder weather. A friend has a standard with bakers and switchblade windshield and he says his fork deflectors make a big difference for him.

Would love to hear from someone who has a similar set up and their experience. I dont want to buy them if they dont make much of a difference with this set up.

The install of my MS lowers made my cold morning rides much more comfortable. I have no experience with Bakers to make a comparison.

I think it is safe to say: show chrome = big bike parts

Thanks hubcapsc. I saw that thread but did not make the connection that the big bike parts deflectors were the show chrome ones. I went out to their site and sure enough. Based on the reviews it would seem my money would be better spent elsewhere.

The deflectors will stop any air from coming up over the tank. The Bakers work on the lower body and legs. That combo made a HUGE difference on my I/S, but know nothing about tourer/standard with the windshield. I took them off in the warm weather cooldude

Did you have any problems with the mounts for the showchrome deflectors like what were described by the guys in the thread hubcapspc references?

No, but I did have to replace all the screws with some that an allen wrench would actually fit. I didn't have a wrench in the toolbox that would fit the cheap supplied ones cooldude

Some follow up from my saga last year at this time.  I found some longer screws at a small hardware store - they were cheap enough so I bought 3 different lengths...all longer than stock and several small washers for spacers, all in stainless steel.

They had enough length to really grip and I also used the rubber strip between the clamp and the fork to grab.  So far, one season with them on and no problems.  Embarrassed

To get back to the original issue question - they do seem to help cut down on buffeting. I have  Baker air wings AND the Clearview windshield that's 3 inches taller and maybe 2 inches wider than stock.

I'm pleased right now but I would have probably bought the Memphis Shades fork deflectors instead.

On another plus side, I had to go over to Jim's heated garage last winter and  test out the longer screws with the clamps on his forks, then once we determined it would work on my bike, we commenced to drinking and smoking cigars - so it worked out alright.  cooldude

They do not show anything for the Valkyrie on their app chart?

I haven't looked for over a year at their site - but they used to show an exact part number for Valkyrie. Perhaps with all the ensuing problems they've had and calls from unhappy customers like me, they may have removed it.
