Very Cool Way to Eat Out in Tuff Times

The Texas State Towing and Storage Association did a promotion with Restaurant.com earlier this year. Since then I have used their site to eat at some very cool places I would not normally have spent the money for.

The site sells promotional gift certificates to restaurants with some limitations on use. When you catch them in a promotional period, the discount can be as high as 80%. Example: a $25 gift certificate runs $5, the restrictions might be that you spend at least $35 on the meal and an 18% gratuity will automatically be added to the check. Some higher end restaurants have certificates as large as $100 available, so you can see the savings can be considerable.

Most major cities have restaurants on the site and the site is searchable by geographic area.
