So I got the 2, 30mm ammo cans to make my saddle bags. Where the question comes in is that I'd like to "shove" the cans over from square to parallelogram  to match  the angle of the shocks.  Could that be done and still be able to use the lids?  Not intending to change the height or width, just put the angle into the ends and then replate the sides?  Thoughts? Ideas?  Should I just leave it alone and just notch and trim to fit around the shocks?

When you cut out the side panels, have the cutout stop 1 or 2 inches shy of the top. This way the slanted portion begins below where the lid fastens, and you don't have to rework the hinging/latching system.

I'd mount them straight so as to utilize the tops of the ammo cans to add more "luggage" space.

The loops on my tops are cheap Stainless Steel cabinet pull handles, and the fit the "rosette" welds on the tops.

I used 1/4" shaft collars as spacers due to the diagonal brace bars.

They are water proof, but if you are using the OEM leather bag mounts you might want to put some split tubing to isolate any rattles.
