I just received the wide open customs fairing for Christmas. My wife bought it for me, she did a lot of researched on what fairing would be best for the bike without having to move the spedo and tach. I love the 1 piece design and the Kenwood radio/speaker set up is awesome. It comes with the Memphis shades mounting brackets. My Valk is a tourer. My question is Do I have to use the Memphis shades brackets or can I use the mounts that are on my windshield? I have not had a chance to look at it against the bike I will do it this weekend.

Here's the link to the Valkyrie fairing page: http://www.wideopencustom.com/p-36-honda-valkyrie-fairing.aspx  It mentions Memphis Shades part number 9954.

Here's the link to the installation page: http://www.wideopencustom.com/t-installation.aspx

Hope that helps.

Thank you Disco

I got the Memphis shades mounts and hard copies of installation instructions with the fairing, but since mine is a tourer and has a windshield mounted to the forks, I was wondering if anyone was able to successfully use the factory windshield mounts / arms instead of the Memphis mounts.

I'd sure try to mount the fairing on your stock windshield mounts.

However, if there isn't SOLID mounting after finished it is a death trap.

Get up to speed and the fairing will start dancing and when that happens the old girl will go into a tank to tank slap.

Been there done that many years ago on my Yamaha XS11.  The 1st year out one. It was the HOT and hard running one.   The next year they toned it down about 50% of the one I had.

Howdee again mooserider, I'm the one you met at the Ride for Kids at hooters. Yes use the Memphis shades mounts. You've seen mine and it doesn't move.

Hi Brother
I prefit my fairing today, I'll get it painted this week. It looks pretty sweet. It came with the Memphis shade mounts. I ordered a plate so I can move the headlight forward 2'. I think it'll look better with the headlight flushed mounted instead of recessed.

I bought a WOC fairing a few years ago. I moved the headlight housing 2" forward with the billet alum bracket from Daryl at XF6 (www.xf6-custom.com) and also some 1 ½ chrome spacers and longer bolts from ACE hardware which also moves it down some to fit in the opening correctly. I like the look of the headlight being even with the forward edge of the faring instead of recessed back into the fairing.

It looks really nice.

Appears you were in a Harley parking spot, though.
