I went to see our friend today at the hospital. Bill is in amazingly good spirits considering what happened to him. As TJ said yesterday, both hands are in some form of hard cast. The Doctor was due in this afternoon to see about putting him in much smaller casts, allowing him to use the fingers he can use.  Several fingers are pinned together following the surgery to repair the compound fractures he suffered. The pinkie on his right hand is half gone. He broke his left wrist and that had to be surgically repaired also with more plates and screws. We may have to begin calling him "Tin Man" instead of Grumpy. He has massive scrapes and bruises to both knees, probably a sprained ankle and a broken big toe on his left foot. I asked him if he remembers what happened and he said he remembers everything. He developed a serious wobble at around 70 or so, he's not sure, that he knew was going to make him go down. He isn't sure if it was in the front or back but doesn't think a tire was going down. He said it felt different than that. He thinks maybe an axle, a bearing or even the swing arm must have failed catastrophically. He remembers trying to get the bike slowed down and get it on to the shoulder to minimize the damage when he went down. Then the bike pitched over and began sliding on the ground, which is apparently when he was thrown off of it. Judging by his injuries, he must have landed on his hands and knees first then started sliding. He said it felt like he slid for a long time and he was trying to stop himself from sliding. His son told him his bike is pretty torn up, especially in the front. Bill figures they will probably total it but he intends to repair it if the frame is still in good shape. I would only hope that I would be in that good of spirits if that was me. He was laughing, making fun of himself a little, feeling bad for his wife because she would have to take care of him when he got home. I told him about the outpouring of prayers and feelings on our Florida board and the General board as well. He seemed touched by that and told me to tell everyone Thank you. He can't wait to get home, check out his bike and get back on the computer and this Florida board he enjoys so much. Any one going to see him tomorrow or Friday should call first (1-863-687-1100) and make sure he is still there. There is a good chance he may be discharged tomorrow afternoon or Friday.

Thank you for the update on Bills condition and a little peak into what went wrong . Prayers continue for his quick and full recovery . Once he is all healed up the bike is simple compared to mending bones and flesh . The best part is from your description hes in very good mental spirits .

Thanks For The Update Jeff. I Am Glad To Hear That He Is In Good Spirits. Hopefully He Will Be Able To Go Home Where He Can Get Some Rest. As You All Know, You Can't Rest In the Hospital.  We Are Still Praying For A Complete Recovery.

Thanks for the update Jeff!  It is really good to hear that he is feeling well enough to joke and kid around.  Attitude is at least half of the battle.
Bill, we are still praying for ya down here in Pearland, TX.

Thanks for the update Jeff. Sure hope Bill gets out in the next day or so. Hospitals are hospitals but home is healing for body, mind, and soul. Prayers will continue for Bill's full recovery.
As far as the bike; as we looked it over when we picked it up, there's still a Valkyrie there. I was amazed how much mechanical protection the crash bars as well as the bag rails provided; looks like they did their job well. We'll hold off posting any pic's until Bill can check it out first hand.

Thank you for the update, we are talking and thinking about him on a daily basis. I sent all the pics of the Valkyrie taken from the scene to Bill's email, agree not to post until Bill approves. I am amazed and proud to be a part of this group, the amount of prayers and concerns has been great and much needed for Bill.  We are looking forward to a visit as I'm sure everyone else is. More prayers from the Coy's.
