I'm curious about oils and their particular properties , I'm currently using Amsoil 20w - 50 on my Valk now .... I have a friend who uses Mobil 1 Synthetic for cars on his Valk I/S and swears by it with no problems at all , he says that there ain't no difference in m/c oil or car oil ..... Just curious is possible to use conventional car oils also , providing it doesn't have any friction reducers in the mix ..... I think this subject has been kicked around , but I'm having a Senior Moment ..... Thanks the Geezer

I have a quarter million miles on Mobil1 on Deerslayer and BluByU (1800 wing). Mostly 15-50 but sometimes other grades when I couldn't find that. No issues whatever. I don't know if Mobil1 has any oil with "friction modifiers" but I do always scan the label making sure I don't buy it.

I used mobile 1 15-15 for over 430.000 miles now it's doing a great job of staining the sidewalk where i crashed! still changed it every 3,000 miles and now that the engine is broken open so I can see inside, it's clean as a whistle in there ! remember to look on the round label on the bottle if it says friction modifiers or some such, just put it back on the shelf to protect your clutch.

Thank You All for all your Infinite Wisdom , I have another Tourist Question for the assembly , can I assume that Friction Modifiers are to be found in both Synthetic & Conventional oils or just in Conventional oils ?? While I'm picking up some fuel filters , while I'm there I'm gonna take a gander at the oils they have on the shelf and check the wording on the labels ..... Hey BF glad hear you use a M/C Tire nice ride , I run a car tire and Love It ..... Thanks the Geezer

The story goes......
Anything with friction modifiers is a no no....
Anything marked "Energy Conserving" on the back of the oil bottle is a no no (having friction modifiers).

I have used Mobil 1 Diesel oil in a situation where I couldn't find the other on my way to Alaska.
Run it up, to Fairbanks, brought it back home via Blythe, CA. Was trying to find as much of Route 66 as I could find. Had like 8,000 miles on that oil change.
It came out almost as clear as it went in.
I have enough cases of Mobil 1 without the modifiers on hand all I have to do is through 4 qts in the saddlebag or trunk compartment and head out. MGM has had Mobil 1 oil since about 12,000 miles and right now he has 243,00 and some change on him.

Mobil 1 15W50 full synthetic! I''ve been buying it by the case (with 3 five quart containers) at Wally World for about $66 a pop in AZ. I can't get the five quart jugs in WA so I haul a case there.
