Hangin' out here beats a tree on the head any day!

All total...we rode about 1500 miles. I know, not much by some of your "iron butt standards"...but a lot of miles FOR SHERRY!

and the final day, we rode back from Virginia (Don and Tracy's) ...and did just under 500 miles. FOR SHERRY, that is the most she has done in one day since 1982.

anyway, here are some notes.

1. I'll be ordering and bringing a kick stand spring bolt from now on! Sherry's broke. it was a bit of a pain for awhile. But then after limping up to Don and Tracy's....they have a great friend named Charlie...who owns a repair shop. he welded us up a special replacement bolt and got us fixed as good as new. Great fella'....oh, and a FELLOW VALK OWNER to boot!

2. Don and Tracy have a beautiful place. we spent the last night up on their ranch. Great company, great scenery....and quite a few critters to see!

3. A lot of the ladies on this trip had some bad luck. Sherry had the kick stand spring "thang". Vicky/TNT crashed on the Blueridge while we were at Maggie Valley. And DonnaM from the Rune board...broke down on the BLueridge when her Rune lost something in the final drive! Tough day for all those ladies...to a degree.....

4. Lots of good riding. LOTS. Blueridge, VA curves, Northeast TN.....etc....

5. lots of good friends. MAggie Valley had more folks than we had anticipated for the Big Bike Rider event. Lamont, VIkcy/TNT, Duffy, Stanley the Steamer, RescueRoy, Thunderblot and Iris, Yogi and Kelly, Cattman, and on and on and on. It was great catching up with old friends....

6. i brought a bottle of crown for the weekend at Maggie, but.....it only seemed to last me ONE NIGHT. somethings.............don't change too much.............  Us Southern boys still can drink some hooch, it appears?  coolsmiley

7. Saw Reelay and Joy the first night of the trip...spent the night at his place. he and Joy are doing well...he's workin again...and we went out and did some Mexican and margaritas to celebrate. We got a pitcher......cause...........us southern boys.................have been known to ..............well, you know......   coolsmiley

8. it was nice taking the Valks.....as usual, comfortable, reliable, reasonable storage. BUT YOU GUYS ALREADY KNOW THAT!

our next trip, is to the Rune Rally in Erwin Labor Day weekend. After that, CBR. Could be some trailering involved in those...especially bringing supplies, prizes, dogs, etc. But hey, we had 'our adventure' for the summer!!!!!!!!!!!!   cooldude

oh, saw the remains of 8,900+ BMWs on our arrival in Erwin on Sunday. Got to speak to a few. Got a 103 page BIBLE on "rules of engagement" for their Rally. The planner/orgainzer in me could appreciate the 103 pages of rules and acknowlegement. The practical side of me said "could you imagine the look on people's faces and reaction if we handed something like this out at an InZane, Cheaha, CBR, etc?". yea.......right........   those BMW folks were, eh...............a bit different. I thought i'd met some "snooty" folks with some of the Harley folks i've met in the past, BUT TO BE HONEST, these BMW folks were..............eh.................ok, they just weren't friendly at all...PERIOD!

And i'm spent.............   Evil

she got hit by a van turning...on the Blueridge. there is a post about it here....one about Maggie Valley. I think there is also a FULL description of the incident on the big bike rider board (www.bigbikeriders.com)  Bottom line, she's banged up....but otherwise ok. Maybe broken collar bone? leg beat up from where the van actually HIT HER! She's sore last i heard....but i've been "out of the loop" a few days. Her bike...while busted up....wasn't TOO bad. it was her new sport bike.
