Hello,

I have a 2000 Valk Interstate with the installed intercom and CB radio unit.  I have J&M headsets in both mine and my wife's helmet.  They worked great for 3 years then last year, the microphone in my helmet stopped working.  I thought it was the headset so I bought a new one (before swapping them to check!).

Same problem with the new set.  The mic works when hooked to the rear i/c input but not on the front.

I traced the wire into the fairing but after that, I have no clue.

A wiring diagram would help or if anyone has any ideas they would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
George

Did you swap the cords also, or just the headsets?  The J&M cords are prone to failure.

Check all the pins on the cord.  One of mine broke a pin off.  Very annoying, as the pin stuck in the other connector, and made contact intermittently.

Yes, I tried a different cord.  Also, when I hooked it up in the back, it worked fine.

sounds to me you have the same problem I do.  The cord from the fairing to your headset lower cord is bad.  I have a new cord on the way from RonAyers.com.  $40ish.

Item 11...

Radio Fiche

I will let you know if this fixes my problem.

Thanks Joe,

I took my fairing apart yesterday and checked the continuity from the plug end to the red connector behind the fairing.  Everything checks out good there.  I just don't know where to go from there without a wiring diagram and am really not looking forward to pulling the tank to trace wires.
