you cannot talk them off....however, there is a write up in shop talk called plug wire conversion....that should help

Yes, check the write-up and use plenty of regular rubbing alcohol. The caps will slip right off once loosened.

As I recall the plug wires unscrew from the coils and then you can bend the plug tips in such a way as to reveal  the internal workings of the wire ( the resistor).
