Yes he rides it, no I don't know how, I've seen it on the highway in St. Louis once, and it's a suicide shifter. Pic taken at the Loading Dock----Grafton, ILL..

Not my Valk but I have thought about my V Star 1100



but I'd lose the great handling it has compared to the Valk if I did. I put 4 inch extensions in the front forks but I just don't know about the apes, maybe mini apes. Whole lotta crap to change out...throttle cables, clutch cable, choke, and all the electrical wiring for the brake lights, starter, turn signals yada yada yada.
Don't know if it's worth all the trouble
