I finally got around to ordering the intake o-rings. The weather was TOO NICE to not ride the bike to work today. All the snow and ice is finally gone...now I just have to watch the roads and curves for small gravel and sand...they use sand here when the roads get bad. I now get to venture into yet another area of bike repair that I've never done. I am pretty decent with wrenching on stuff, I just get nervous when working on my bike or either bike of my 2 son's. One day, when I grow up, I hope to be a fairly decent motorcycle mechanic.  Wish me luck on the intake o-ring job.!!!! |

Sawduster replacement of the intake O-rings is an easy job. Be careful to not over torque the fastners. |

Thanks guys......I looked up the torque spec for the intake bolts....looks like 6.5 ft/lbs. I'll see how it goes tonight.  |

Well, I haven't gotten it done yet....I've been trying to find a torque wrench that goes "low" enough to measure 6.5 ft/lbs as per the spec. I've exhausted friends and tool rental places near me. Now I'm looking at buying yet another tool I don't have.

Use a 1/4 drive and snug them up, most torgue wrenched arent real accurate at 6.5 ft/lbs and buying one just for that is a waste of money IMHO.

Really just use a 1/4 " ratchet drive with a 8mm socket on a 6" extension and just snug till tight. Also use the same set up to loosen the band clamp that holds the rubber to the Carbs , not the clamp on the intake. Then just pull the bottom of the intake runner "OUT" and "UP". With a little wiggling it comes right out.. I used a small dab of grease to hold the new O'rings in place and then put the rubber back on the carbs, then push "UP" trying to get the tab in the slot in the rubber, then push it back "IN" to place. I only did 1 at a time. Easy, peasy, lemon squeezy. You will do just Fine, Wewa |

I have done many bikes with no torque wrench. just finger tight on both then top it off with the wrench...good and snug is all it needs |
