As you may recall it all started with my thiniking that I needed to change my water pump (at 207K) due to seeing a drop or two of oil at the bottom of the water pump, which lead to my breaking off one of the two bolts holding the pump to the tranny case.  Subsequently I broke off an "easyout" in the drilled bolt, which lead me to ordering a new tranny cover.  There are no new ones in the USA !!  Finally "Terry" ( a VRCC member) offered up a good used one off his donor engine, which I bought.  I decided to take the bike to the shop for a "pro" to R & R the cover only, then I'd button her up.  In the process of trying to push the 750 lb Phat lady up into my trailer, I lost it and over onto the side rail she went and broke the left front turn signal!   After I picked her up (it only took the "pro" an hour) at the shop and took her home, I started puttin' her back together.  Actually, that was the easiest part. I installed the new pump (all new bolts got anti-seize), oil filter, oil and antifreeze.  Now for the test fire. She was a little reluctant, but fire she did.  However, she would only run on the first four cylinders!  Rechecked all connections and plug wires etc., decided to take her out anyway, maybe "it would clear up".  After a couple of raggeddy blocks, I witched to reserve and away we went!!!!!
Of course, it started raining, so no riding this afternoon, but she's all polished and she can sing her song again.  It appears that that drop or two of oil was likely only the O-ring on the water pump leaking and the OEM pump is still good as new.   Total cost came to about $450, but I'm happy again.  Thanx for all the suggestions and help.
