Anyone up to accompanying me next weekend the 5th leaving early morn and leaving to come back the following early morning the 6th? Where KSU depends on who will go. I haven't done a trip further than 100 miles and would greatly appreciate the company...the link to directions from my city is below..the longest stretch of road is to I-26 W which is about 6.5 hours

https://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=Sebastian,+FL&daddr=8107+TN-91,+Laurel+Bloomery,+TN,+North+America&hl=en&sll=37.6,-95.665&sspn=38.27071,56.162109&geocode=Fd9xqAEdsB00-yn7mBOucmjeiDFyJBZn52t6Fw%3BFeYmLgId_4Ig-ym3rNK4IURQiDHhBraJ3_Fb9Q&oq=8107+tn+91+north&t=h&mra=ls&z=6

Sorry to hear about your aunt.
I cannot make it myself but may I suggest to give yourself a little more time for the trip, might be a little bit much to leave one day and come back the next.
Just a suggestion, I understand you might be tight on days off.
Hope it all works out for you and you are able to make it up to TN to see your aunt.

Also sorry to hear about your Aunt. She must be pretty special to you!
Keep us posted and if you find yourself ahead of time we may be somewhere within your avenue of travel to have a bite to eat with. Always nice to meet another Valk owner.

Yeah it would be a hard weekend for sure.. It's the work constraint but if someone would be willing to do it with me, I can justify going; not alone - dangerous

I understand the feelings when it comes to your aunt, I've been handed more than my share of lemons in recent years and I'm tired of making lemonade. I guess I don't understand why you think it would be dangerous to make the trip alone. I've traveled solo numerous times in the last 10-12 years with nary a bit of concern, covering a lot more miles than to Tenn. and back.

I hope you do get to attend, it is important.

My thinking is that (2) bikes is better (safer) than one...also it being my first 700mile run. On my own I've noticed that I get drowsy so that's pretty much that

Sorry To Hear About Your Aunt.
If You Had A Little More Time To Lay Over It Would Make It a More Pleasurable Trip. I Have A Brother That Lives Just North Of Gastonia N.C. ,( Connelly Springs),It Is A Nine Hour Ride From Ocala To His House Just Stopping For Gas And Running 80MPH . I Would Love To Do This Trip With You But  I Would Need A Day To Rest.
BTW There Is Fresh Snow On The Ground Near There Today .
Hope You Get To See Her And Have A Safe Trip.

I'll consider that Bert and will get back to you after/during this weekend. I may be trading my STD in for an I/S with low miles for 7k gimme till over the weekend and I might be able to extend it a day...thanks for considering it!

I Hope The Trade Works Out For You. It Would Be A More Comfortable Ride On An Interstate Also. I'll Be Looking Out For Your Update On This Post.

Sorry to hear about your Aunt.
Might want to take the trip on 4 wheels instead of 2 this time of year, on a restricted schedule. While being only 700 miles, it is not a pleasant there and back 1400-1500 mile run right now; it's cold, and wet, can't make any road time; don't care what Maps says. The other thing is, 700 miles on a bike is not a 100 mile ride by no means, a rider should work up to that distance over time if at all possible. Fatigue on a motorcycle is a killer.
If I wasn't riding to Texas later in the week I might entertain the trip...but as a 3 day run due to weather and roads. Not good night traveling up that way.
Ride safe or don't ride at all.  nuff said!

Please heed the words of a true Iron-Butt guy, which James is. Take the car and get there in one piece to see your Dear Aunt. God Bless her and your journey.
