I have a 1998 Valk with 99,000 kms. I was doing a check-up of the bike on a lift,  and noticed, when turning the back wheel by hand that there was a noise (clunk, clunk, clunk) coming from either the wheel or drive shaft. Can this be a problem or is this a normal sound?

You need to pull the tire and check the following: Left rear wheel bearing, Splines, drive shaft and U-Joint. I would suspect the wheel bearing. Doesn't hurt to just do a routine inspection.

A clunk is more like the u-joint.

Pull off the rear brake pedal assy and you can easily slip the boot back and inspect the u-joint.

Didn't you hear anything or feel anything while riding the bike.

That is really strange.

Clunk, clunk, clunk, is not a normal sound on a Valk.  You have an issue that should be addressed while you have the bike on the lift.  Sad
