Here's a little experimental info on driving lights I've undertaken. I had previously installed halogen driving lights from O'rielys (about $26 bucks) and started thinking about LED's to reduce the heat generated by the halogens. One of my bulbs burnt out, so off to O'riely's for a replacement, don't have any. Looked on the internet for replacement, found that there are exact replacements in LED's from Custom Dynamics, the bulbs are $42 each, not going to happen. Went to HomeDepot, they have a bunch of these MR16 bulbs. Picked up a set of Phillips 35W equivalent, bright white MR16's about $20 each. There are numerous bulbs that can be had for a lot less money, but I will see how these work out. Should not be exposed directly to water, but that is subjective. I think that they should also be dimmerable for the start up, but that also is subjective. We will see how it all works out,
1--Less heat, can hardly feel any, and very low draw, about 4 watts compaired to 35 or 50 watts. Don't let the pictures fool you, these lights are really bright. I use these strictly for day use, I try not to be caught out at night.

R U refering to the little lights on your crash bars or the head lights?

I'm working on getting head lights like in the Volvo and a few other Foreign rigs.

Reason I say Volvo, the neighbor has one and they make deer stand out like a bandit that was sprayed with florescent paint.

The head lights are a hell of a lot more expensive.

Red, so you replaced the bulbs in the small lights on the crash bars with LED'S? What and were they and what did you replace them with?

I have similar size lamps with H3, 45 watt bulbs. They get real hot and don't last long. Any suggestion for a replacement?

I got a pair of LED driving lights from superbrightleds about a year ago. I've been told by numerous people including a couple of state troopers that they could see me from almost half a mile away. And these suckers are bright and really stand out.

As was stated by Bighead, the first I installed on the Standard was the Phillips 35 watt equivalent bi pin bulbs. Today, I made another trip to Home Depot and picked up a pair of Ecosmart 55 watt equivalent 8 watt draw LED's for my I/S. If you think the 35W's are bright, you should see these. All these bulbs are M16 bi pin bulbs that replace the M16 halogen heat generating bulbs. The Ecosmart bulbs are suitable for damp locations, but as with the first set, says not to be exposed directly to water.

Eli, I looked these up online and Home Depot says you can only get these online. Did you get them at a local store. I haven't gone to a store here yet to see if they have them.

ELi, I want to thank you for all your help. After I went back and got the right bulbs everything worked great. the lights are brighter than the 35 watt bulbs I had but the biggest benefit is even at idle the volt guage is at 14.1 volts. The regular bulbs would pull it down a volt or more.
