I have the filtered D-Marc on my 99 Interstate, and the carbs run out of gas at sustained 70mph cruising when I get down to 1/2 tank or so, like I am seeing other's having a similar problem. I have a new in-tank filter ordered, the old one was intact but the lower half was kind of shriveled-up. I hoped that was the problem but it looks like I need to get the other D-M valve or take the filter out of this one. Hopefully it is not the smaller orifice causing the problem. I had a CBX that I added an inline filter to after cleaning all 6 carbs on that beast, and it did the same thing-ran out of gas at 1/2 tank, and that filter was fairly large.
So, I'm asking if anyone has removed the filter and seen an improvement, and how did you do it?

Rekit I installed a Dan Marc without the filter and haven't had any issues. I would remove the filter and replace with a serrated/barbed fitting that can accept your gas line on both your bikes. Funny you should mention your CBX as I have experienced gas starvation issues on my CB 1000C with some in line filters.

With a gravity feed set of carbs, I could imagine your not getting enough pressure with half a tank. A less restrictive filter might work better, but the one in the tank seems to work best.

OK the filter is in the big nut. It unscrews, and there is a bronze? filter and a magnet. I don't think the filter is restrictive, but the problem may be the 3 small holes that feed it. I re-installed it w/o the filter and my Interstate is still starving at 1/2 tank. One other thing-I previously did the Sigma 6 jet kit. Running 38 slow jets and 105 mains with needle shims, stock air filter and exhaust. My mileage was 28 on my last tank running 50/70 mph solo taking it easy mostly. Maybe I'm just using too much gas (too rich?). I'm going to install a 1112 when it gets here and go down to stock main jets (100) and see what happens. Hell, I can get 21 mpg riding around in my 4000 lb V8 car with the A/C on...........(Texas).

Rekit I installed a Dan Marc without the filter and haven't had any issues.
