I'm riding down Friday morning, probably mid-morning. Any one else going down Friday morning?  I have not created a route yet,  but don't really want to be on 45 that much.

Going with the wife, she's caging it so we'll be all the way on 45 whenever we leave.

The ride I've led down for a couple of years is this one that Serk originally authored.  It will keep you off of 45 if you want to go this way.

And now I'm sad that I won't be able to make it down this year. Have a good time, guys.

Thanks for the route Mark. So it looks like I'm riding by myself so far.

Thanks for the route Mark. So it looks like I'm riding by myself so far.

I'd much prefer the route I've listed but since I'm escorting the cage down, I'm pretty much stuck with the superslab.  Sunday, I'll be riding back with the group so if you want, we can do a reverse of this route back to the metroplex.  My wife is heading to San Antonio for an education conference Sunday.

In a drought, the forecast for riding is rain in the Houston area for most of the weekend.  Figures.  Still going!

Mark, thanks, but I'm riding to Georgetown Sunday. Spending part of the week there, going to ride the hill country and photograph wildflowers. Next week will be my last week of unemployment, I start a new job on the 14th.

Pending some (unfortunately) unforeseen improvement in the forecast, I'm probably going to cage it.

May be just as well - I have to attend a memorial service Saturday afternoon for a good friend who passed away last week Sad and really don't like riding into downtown Houston, even when it's dry.

Of course, I might change my mind, ride anyway, and borrow a four-wheeler...   uglystupid2

Hope this helps.   Roll Eyes

We are also planning to ride down early Friday morning.  At the moment it's just us - there were some concerns that a big group ride and tackling I-45 might be beyond my current skill set - but we would welcome company if you don't mind a less speedy ride.  We are probably going to do a modified version of Rainmaker/Serk's route and go around 45, coming in on the ferry with a guesstimated ETA of 3pm or so.  We will likely stop a time or two on Bollivar along the way.  We haven't completely figured it all out yet, but it will be relaxed and fun and good for a novice like me.  PM me and/or Timbo if interested.  Estimated KSU is 7:30-ish from our house, but can meet up along the way.

Looking forward to my first BIG trip driving the 'Wing!

I'll be heading out on the backwoods east Texas route tomorrow after I drop the triplets off at daycare... This will be Kali's (My 11 year old) first ride on the bike of any real distance, so we plan on making it just a solo run, but keep your eyes peeled, if ya' see us along the way give us a "Howdy!"

And safe travels for all!

Woody, hope you and yours are safe and sound after that big storm last nite!

It appeared to be right on top of you.  Undecided

BnB, thanks  Yes we are safe and YES it was right on us.  Think we lost a whole recently planted garden.
