I've seen on here a few times that guys have found their pinion cups bone dry, so since I have the rear wheel off I thought I would check it for some piece of mind. What I found looks beautiful, good amount of grease and the teeth look great. I popped it back in and it holds nicely.  My question is, Honda suggests that you replace the stopper ring and the oil seal. Do I need to throw the 20 bucks at it or just remount it and ride it like I stole it? By the way odometer shows 5,800 miles.

They really don't do much, so, if they look good after installation I don't think I'd worry about them.
I do try to keep parts like that on hand for just such occasions though.

Did you check to see if the 2 little holes were plugged up?

They need to be open.

Checked mine for the first time at 75,000 miles and it was plenty wet and looked brand new. I've been checking it about every 10,000 since.

Says to replace seal if you have removed it from shaft,  if not re-use.
I put original stopper ring on my new shaft.

I replaced the seal on mine when I pulled mine apart. But I was replacing the yoke so when I ordered it, I also ordered seals, bearings, yaada-yaada-yaada....... No point putting used parts back on when going that far into it.
