I need to replace my oem shocks with some Progressive shocks who has the best price on the HD Chrome 440 13inch shocks and front springs .... I had thought about ordering some OEM I/S shocks until I found out how much they are like $ 800 for two from the stealership ....

Last year a friend found 13" 440HD's on Amazon for $388 delivered. Best price I've seen.

I just went through this very exercise last Fall.  Motorcycle Accessory Warehouse (MAW) had the best price I could find, outside of Ebay, which I will not do business with.  MAW's website is not user friendly, and after you diddle around for a while, it is best to just call them.  Do your homework and decide which part number Progressive shock you want, and length, and black or chrome.  However, MAW adds a surcharge percentage to all sales (which they hide very well), and shipping....so the ultimate price was only some $45 cheaper than Honda Direct Line (HDL), who gives free shipping.  HDL will price match, but they match the total price (including shipping and any surcharge), so if you do the legwork and get TOTAL price from MAW, then call HDL, you should be able to get them to knock a few dollars off.  I prefer doing business with HDL whenever I can.  HDL also has regular 5 or 10 percent off sales, (not in combination with a price match).

With an expensive part like a set of 440s, it is worth your time to Google your part number (ie Progressive Suspension 440 4221 (or 4213) 13" (or 12.5") shocks)  and visit a number of sites to see what is out there.  Dennis Kirk and other reputable sellers sometimes have sales and closeouts, but I found few if any deals on 440s.  The upside is a lifetime warranty (so hang on to your receipt).

I see Amazon has 12.5 std/b  440's for 345.00. Looks like a good buy however (bear with me on this) As these are not HD,( I weigh 210 and don't carry a passenger), are these right for me and is the length such that my rear height won't be affected?
Thanks

Bill, that is a great buy, but you don't say if you have IS or std/tourer.  Probably not ok for IS.  Likely OK for std/tourer at 210 with no passenger, but I would crank them up 5 or 6 (of ten) turns from the bottom just to start (and I'd do it before install, it's easier).  They supposedly come new set at the bottom (lowest setting).  "/b" means black, which are some $40 cheaper than chrome.  Eight of ten turns on the std duty are supposed to be the same dampening as HD set at the bottom .

There is a longstanding debate here whether 12.5" are closer to OE height than 13" 440s.  OE are "13, but they are all getting old, and the argument is the new 440s don't sag as much as the OEs at rest, so 12.5" are supposedly closer to OE.  I got 13" 440s for both my ISs because I ride aggressively and I still drag boards all the time even with the 13" 440s (and I'm only 5'9").  Truth is, you probably won't notice any big difference between 13 and 12.5s, nor should it make any difference if you go to a car tire (with the nut cage mod).
