So, I impressed myself by pulling the carbs and changing out the slow jets w/o problem..also rebuilt the petcock (one of these two things stopped my rt sided popping when cold starting..good deal)...yesterday I pulled the rear wheel to fix the mismatched wheel / rotor issue (rotor was rubbing against the caliper bracket). Fixed by using washers between the rotor and wheel to bring the rotor out 1/16", Worked great...rotor clears the caliper bracket..when I rolled the bike around the garage...no rubbing noise..good.

Took her out for a test ride, after about 1/4 mile started hearing rubbing sound from rear. Back to the garage..rolled bike around garage again...hear intermittent rubbing...bike back on jack...rear tire off ground..spin wheel by hand...no rubbing...

I noticed that the brake caliper seemed to have more front/back wiggle when I re-installed it. When I took it off I simply pulled the bracket / caliper as a unit..never loosened the bolt with the boot. While rotating the wheel by hand and moving the brake caliper backwards / forward in this wiggle area...I get the rubbing again when the rotor is floated backwards towards the rotor. Seems the caliper moves back enough now to rub the rotor when brake not engaged..also rubbing seemed to get more constant when rear brake applied during short test ride..Whats happened?...do I need to loosen and re-tighten the bolt w/ the boot. Why is there more play in the caliper now?

Thanks for any help

Is there any possibility that the washers you used weren't exactly the same thickness and now the rotor has a wiggle to it? Was rotor used and may be warped from previous heat? A couple of things to look for. Good luck.
