The program is suspended after 6 days, it looks like all the money (1 billion) has been used up already.  Congress is going to think about giving the program some more money

The 10 pm Nashville CBS news said only 100 million of the 1 billion had been used. This is hilarious to me, as it is beginning to show the thought that is being put into these programs. And as JeffK said in another post, this is ONLY a billion dollar program! I'm sure I want this administration handling my health care decisions too!!

Whoa...... just watched the news and they initially reported that the program was suspended and then later reported that the White House/Administration overrode the NHTSA and will continue the program.......    sheesh.  This is going to be interesting.   uglystupid2

The fund balance is not up to date the government has not processed most of the paperwork yet

A survey of 2,000 dealers by the National Automobile Dealers Association found about 25,000 deals had not yet approved by NHTSA, or nearly 13 trades per store. It raised concerns that with about 23,000 dealers taking part in the program, auto dealers may already have surpassed the 250,000 vehicle sales funded by the $1 billion program.
"There's a significant backlog of 'cash for clunkers' deals that make us question how much funding is still available in the program," said Bailey Wood, a spokesman for the dealers association.

The only way to continue the program is to throw more money at it

And, to show how smart congress is, they estimated that the money would last thru OCTOBER!
What math skills!

And, we are to believe they have HEALTH CARE costs correct?

NOT!

You can take this to the "BANK". Having spent 30 years in the Car Market, there will be many "hung out to dry". Paper work has sunk a LOT of Dealerships. May look good on paper until you try to cash the CHECK.  Undecided

"The House raced Friday to pass legislation to inject an additional $2 billion into the "cash for clunkers" program, whose immediate popularity this week threatened to sink the program.

The $2 billion boost would be created by shuffling around funds from the Recovery and Reinvestment Act, an emergency stimulus for the original $1 billion budget for rebates on new cars that lawmakers worried had been exhausted in only a week."

Well that should hold it over at least another week.  2funny

Ant that is EXACTLY what will happen to health care costs.  They will pass a bill, and very soon find out that it costs MUCH, MUCH more, and instead of rescinding the bill, we will have taxes raised, and see costs go thru the roof.
