My Obsession

Coolidge, Arizona

« on: July 30, 2009, 09:54:19 PM »

After a wonderful week at Inzane 9, Kendall and I have had the great pleasure of being guests at the Kinter Home.  Unfortunately we didn't get to visit with the girls as much as we'd liked (Harper had surgery so Kim was at the Hospital most of the week and the little ones stayed with grandparents) ... but tonite as our visit began to wind down and reality that tomorrow we roll out set in... the girls had questions ...

How did you get your name "Des"?

My "nickname" is actually shortened from a longer version from when I first started playing online ... way back when .... Desertheat35.  As the years have gone by and times have changed ... I dropped it to Desert ... then to "Des".  A lot of times I'll catch myself introducing myself to people who are not even part of the VRCC as "Des".

So here's the question from the Kinter girls ....

Keep this in the original thread so we don't get multiple threads on the same topic!

Dull by comparison to others.  I needed a handle when I began to post on the VRCC bulletin board.  Having no nickname that had endured, I chose a name for myself.  I could have changed after someone who knew me well enough assigned another, but in a fairly short amount of time too many people knew me as Willow for me to feel comfortable in being otherwise.

Reason for selection?  Take your choice:

a.  from the phrase "like a willow in the wind"

b.  from a particular scene in a movie named for the lead character

c.  it's the favorite tree of my life partner

Psycho just is.

Basically born with name Magoo. A cousin was helping Dad build our house in Port Sulphur La. . He came to see Mom and a sister (ya'll may not know MoonShine) and myself (Magoo). He was the one that gave me the name Magoo at two days old, and it stuck. Joined the Great club called the VRCC, started meeting people all over the country. Meet this lady CharlyGirl from Mississippi. She started calling me Goo-Goo Magoo. Now you know the rest of the story.
