171,000 still running the original wires, until they go bad I see no sense in changing them

they are solid core wires, the resistor in the end cap can and have gone bad although somewhat rare. I believe the service manual gives an ohm reading to take to check condition.

i had one go bad about 350.000 left frt. (serious decrease in power) swapped in a good used one and no problems after that.
