See if you recognize any of these folks.  See Mike I told you we used to have a yearly bike rally in PC.

Pretty sure I posted this not too long ago, but I think there are a few new members that might not have seen them.  Anyone remember how many years we did this?  Maybe 4 or 5?  Always looked forward to the ride on 98 along the coast.

Oh wow, I have some pics from that same rally. Saw Charlie and Tee in a couple, easy to spot Charlie with his long pony tail. TJ and DDT in a couple, spotted myself in 3-4 as well. One at lunch where I think Iris is sitting across the table from me. And I can't remember the name of the guy that arranged it all, brain fart I guess. Terry, saw you in one just to prove you were there.  Wink  Those were some good times, even if Michael K got us lost on the way. I finally suggested we stop at a gas station and ask....who woulda thunk to do that.  Grin  That was one of two times I followed him with his fool GPS and he got us all turned around both times.  2funny

Looks like you guys had a great time, but i think this is a wake up call for florida riders to resurrect this annual event and get the ball rolling again, theres plenty of us already, i think that would be neat to meet once a year for few days to reconnect and rejoice. just my 2 cents

Just a few notes.  In one of the pictures you will see a guy on a maroon scooter.  His name was Clifton Crews, just the nicest guy you would ever want to meet.  He lost both feet to diabetes.  He was talking to Strider at Panama City and said he would really like to move up to a Silver Wing scooter one day.  Strider got the ball rolling on the board and the VRCC members contributed enough money to buy one and someone found one that was moved via relay until it got to Alabama.  It was presented to Clifton aka "Scootertrash" at the Alabama state rally held at the Cheaha State Park.  Very moving experience.  Clifton ran out of time on this earth recently and he has not been forgotten.
People came from many states to our rally in PCB.  Willow and Motomama from KS, Detn8r as Tundra mentioned, Rick from Raleigh N.C.,Smokinjoe,Gordon and the crew.  There were a couple of Bryan's a couple of Woody's.  Quite a few folks from Alabama and Ga. as well as a good representation of Florida Folks.
What we need LARUE  Smiley is someone to step up and take the reigns so to speak.  Someone mentioned May as a date and that isn't a bad idea.  It was held on the weekend that Veteran's day was celebrated to give folks that extra day to travel home.  Another thing about the Nov. date was that folks from the Midwest and not too far North could get that last ride of the year in before they got snowed in.
It is not for the faint of heart to organize something like this.  I think the reason Bryan who was our state president at the time quit doing the rally was that it was just getting too hard to please everyone all the time.  He even made his own beer and rented a room on the ground floor where anyone that wanted to could try it out.  Since Bryan retired himself from the president's position after his accident we have not had a president and we seem to get along pretty well with no guidance.  It is a thankless position.

Those were some of my favorite get togethers! I saw my bike in the mix, before fairing and hard bags  Smiley

lots of familiar faces, but no idea of names.   thanks for the memories.

yes it is a big responsibility putting on a rally so that's why I stopped as well.
here's what I used to do it:
need a reasonable priced place to stay with a gathering area, plenty of parking and possible restaurant on property or in walking distance
a organized ride to somewhere &/or just lunch, reserve place ahead of time.  [sat], have maps for ones that want to ride their own ride.
time and meeting place for dinner [friday & sat].
time for sunday breakfast before leaving.
I use to get door prizes, but I'm sure no vendor wants to do that anymore.  plus stuff harder to find for the Valk now, but it did make it fun.   had a Honda trivia contest once, very completive people.
it sounds easier than it is, most is a lot of time getting it together.
places I thought be good:
checked on the Holiday Inn on HWY 40 in Silver Springs yrs back, but the rooms were over $100.00.
another place Best Western in Palatka, where the old Corky Bells was at the marina.   also over $100.00 a few yrs back and no idea what these places are like now?
just a few suggestions to get anyone started.  I agree with Terry, the fall seem better.

I Have A Panama City Valkyrie Shirt But Did Not Get To Attend Because My Brother And Sister In-Law Had A Fatal Accident In North Carolina A Few Days Before The Rally . It Was One That Was Well Planned And I Heard Lots Of Great Stories.

Would love to meet all of you in my hometown of PCB. I'll miss Thunder Beach this year for being in Brazil until end of May. But if there are plans to resurrect the meet n greet there I'd love to be a part of it.
