Remember this bike is made from a wing frame. The tank is under the seat and the filler has a short tube down to the tank.

Based on what I could see, the tank is indeed the tank. (Just a guess, but I'd say its a plastic tank inside the metal faux tank. I looked under the seat via both side covers and I didn't see a tank there.
