I have a problem with my throttle on my 2000 Interstate. A little background first, in two years I have moved up from a 99 Honda ACE 750 Classic, then a  98 Honda 1100 Tourer, and now my 2000 Valk.
Back to the problem;
When I apply the appropriate amount of throttle to pass a car or another motorcycle, I seem to experience a difficulty in tapering off of the throttle when the appropriate amount of speed needed to accomplish the maneuver is reached.

This is usually accompanied by a glimpse into the rear view mirror and an involuntary grin.  Occasionally when this happens on stretches of open road, the involuntary grin turns into a s**t-eating smile, and accompanying speeds that occasionally exceed that states' safe speed limit for that particular stretch of highway.

I didn't seem to have this problem with the two bikes that preceeded the purchase of my Valk. If any of you have experienced this, and have a suggestion on how I can remedy this situation, please let me know... cooldude

Yea, this new Valk rider is really enjoying his flat six..

This phenomenon is known as a "Valkyrie Moment."  It's not the only one... they'll happen often and occasionally without warning.

There is no remedy... as long as you're riding a Valkyrie, they'll happen... just enjoy the rush!

You can't do much about the length of your life, so focus on the width.

If you really view it as a problem you could always pull off 3 or 4 spark plug wires. 2funny

I see what your problem is...mostly because I have been inflicted with it in the past.

You stepped from a (no insults intended) Cavalier to a Impala to a Porsche.  The power curve of the bikes are as different as the bikes themselves (Shadows vs Valkyrie...that is).  Where the Shadows had that kick in the pants...off the line grunt that the V-Twins are known for...the Valkyrie has the all out top end power...especially when you venture in the 3k and above rpm range.

My previous bike was a 2002 Spirit 1100.  That bike was it for me until I rode a Valkyrie...then it was all over (well...after 54,600 miles...it was over).  I picked up my Valkyrie with just under 16k on it (at the end of June 06) and she has 58k on her now.

You learn to enjoy the power of the Valkyries.  It has saved my hiney a few times (in traffic) and I have shown a few sport bike riders just what a big power cruiser can do.  (I love seeing their mouths drop open when I pull the front wheel off the ground...but after replacing the u-joint at InZane this year...I have decided to try to keep my front tire of the ground.  That plan hasn't worked real well so far... Cheesy)

Congrats on your bike.  Now...go out there and ride it like you stole it.
