I bought a prototype motorcycle trailer from my company this winter, so I decided to install a hitch on my 1999 IS.

Well, true to form, whenever I start digging, the project takes on a life of its own!

Now what started as just a hitch and wiring has turned into:

1.  Hitch Doc hitch.
2.  Hoppy powered trailer light harness.
3.  Proper wire harness for rear speakers.
4.  New POLK rear speakers.
5.  King Big Boy 4 pc Ultimate Seat. (since the seat was off anyways!)
6.  Engine Hangers from Mike Terry.
7.  Hondaline front and rear chrome fender covers.
8.  Exhaust pipes from Mark T.
9.  New highway, driver, and passenger pegs.
10.  Transmission covers!
11.  Grumpys tail pipe ends.

Im not sure where its going to stop, but its starting to eat into good riding weather!

Here is a couple of pics of the trailer before paint.  I gave them my saddlebags and they are going to paint the trailer to match!

Well, like I said, it was a prototype.  We purchased this trailer 7 years ago for $2850.00 wholesale.  It was just too expensive of a unit and it never took off.  We still build mc trailers, just not this nice.  I was able to get it for $600.00.  I will be getting new wheels/tires and of course its getting painted and cleaned up!  Even though the tires have 0 miles, I just wanted new ones!!!  Smiley

Was the trailer originally designed for an 1800 Wing?  Sure does have the tail lights for one.

Sounds like a good project!  All of them seem to take time.   Smiley

I know we thought about the GL 1800 owner when we looked at who would be able to afford it.  But at the end of the day, it was more the Harley crowd price! Smiley. It would more than likely have retailed in the $4500.00 range.  Just not a good fit!

I think I should change my handle to "spendman", or in a pinch, "debtman" would work as well!   Smiley

Where did you get the harness for the rear speakers? I got mine from Electrical Connections but it isn't long enough to reach the plug under the right side cover...

Fred.

I got mine there as well.  There was several choices of harness.  The one I chose is actually too long.  They had 3 choices.  The middle choice is the one for the interstate.

p/n 03106    Honda Valkyrie Interstate Rear Speaker Harness   $14.95

Is this the part number you ordered?  If it is, I would let them know.  Maybe they will send you one that is long enough!

I think it looks damn good too.   cooldude

However, I'm not a fan of the Interstate badge....at least where you have it.  I really do like the valkyrie emblem that you put on there however..... really sharp there on the back.   Wink

I think maybe I'd play with putting the Interstate under the valkyrie emblem and see how that looks.  Otherwise, I'd leave it like it is......it's great with just the valk emblem on it.

I like it just how you mocked it up.  Except I'd move the IS script up about 2"

One thing.  That IS script is a real wax, cleaner, dirt holder.  After awhile, it is hard to clean it out between the script, and detail brushes end up abusing the paint.

Assuming you have to run a trailer plate (tax mafia), one IS script might fit nicely on a wide chrome plate frame.  Or under the frame.

I have long since kept wax well away from all lettering.

Nice looking trailer BTW.  In a semi fetal position, I believe could sleep in there.  cooldude

Need an indoor latch release however.

Thanks for the input guys!  I really like the idea of putting the IS on the license plate frame!
