What did I get wet? (Radio problem)

Washed my I/S now radio won't work.
Display has a weird little character on it, but no sound and buttons do nothing.
Checked fuses and would like to check power etc, but not sure what wires do what.
have been reading for 24 hours and tried the tips on here, no luck so far.
Leaving at O-Dark-Thirty in the morning for Sturgis, not excited about a 3K ride with no tunes.
Any advice on how to trace problem?
Thanks,
JB

see the thread about no headlights on an Interstate to get links to schematics and manual......
3K there , 3 K back, no tunes, your singin' should be better by the time you get home.

Mine has done that once or twice after riding in a hard rain. Usually comes back to life after the rain stops and drys out from riding. If not over night in the garage gives it time to dryout.

I'm sure that what happened is you got the controller on the handlebar wet. It will dry out. Keep a Ziploc sandwich bag in your trunk to put over it if it is going to rain or for when you wash the bike.

It turns out that it wasn't water at all. I had packed my saddlebag the same night. That saddlebag has my compressor for my air horns in it. For some reason, whoever installed it put a toggle switch in the wiring. I guess I bumped it when I crammed the stuff in. I figured it out about 100 miles into our ride to Sturgis so we had tunes and Zumo for 2861.9 miles of our trip.
As far as I can tell, the switch is just there to screw up my radio. Does anyone know why I would need to keep it? Thinking of just splicing the wires so that it doesn't happen again.
Thanks,
JB

OK, so nothing got wet .
Before you remove the switch...determine if the power to that switch has power when the key is off. If it does, then you will need to hook it up to a switched source. That may be why the switch is there? ???

you may want to follow that circuit out and make sure that it has a fuse on the power source as well..............
