I have 1997 Valk Tourer and with a new battery new starter switch assy, all fuses good, but engine wont turn over.  Could kick stand switch be bad?  Where is it?  If I jump solenoid it turns over.     Tks

My guess would be starter switch. Take apart and clean.

Well maybe you are right about the kickstand switch then. It's down on the stand. Might check your kill switch also.

You have how many switches that kill the engine?

The run/off, clutch lever (when bike is in gear) and side stand.

Anyone else?

Could be the tip over also.

Have you done anything to the bike before this, or did it just happen?

Even with a new battery, have you checked to make sure the ground is solid and clean down low?

If you pull all six plugs, sit on the bike to keep it upright (with kickstand up), kill switch in the run position,.....now try to see if the motor cranks. If not check the fuseable link at the solenoid and the ground strap at the motor/frame interface.

Good luck

Would he be able to jump it at the solenoid if it was a bad ground or fusible link?

So it must be starter switch, kickstand switch, tip over switch, or kill switch. At least that's my thinking. Even with a new starter switch I think I would still take it apart and have a look at it.

Does your Neutral Light come on with the key on and the trans in neutral?

Does the 'S' light in the tach come on with the key on and the sidestand down
Does it go out when you put the sidestand up

Do you hear a click at the clutch lever when you pull the clutch lever in all of the way?

If the neutral light is on, then the clutch switch and sidestand switch should not matter.
If the neutral light does not come on, then the clutch switch and sidestand switch come into play.

All of this feeds through the Diode Assembly at the fuse block (this also includes all of the associated wiring and connectors).

This is the drawing from Rattlebars showing the interlocks.

http://www.rattlebars.com/valkfaq/schematics/rpage12.html

If you have ever looked at the wiring schematic in the shop manual, you will realize just how good the Rattlebar scematics are!

Without a volt/ohm meter you're just blowing in the wind.

Thanks for posting that Rattlebars link indybobm,, I didn't know that info was there. I only have the downloadable manual from Dags site,, and the wiring diagrams are hard to make out color cods in the resolution they are in.  I printed out that set.
