going to pick up a parts car for my 70 Pontiac Bonneville restoration. Taking my dads sidecar to a gentleman in CA. Mike Hann is coming up from LA to get the hack and then we are picking up the car in Sacramento and putting it on the trailer for the trip home. Going to see a lot of this country along the way. To bad we will be in to much of a hurry to stop and enjoy it. I wish it was on two wheels but oh well..............

Hey Bro, word of advice,      Keep the firkin trailer lights working properly while in California.    They are or can be bastards.......

What route you planning on taking?  e-mail me on it.

I'm assuming you are going I-80 all the way.

Only bad spot you will have is Donner Pass, East to West it is 7 miles from bottom to the top, drop the truck into 3rd and let it ease up and over, don't crowd it as you will overheat.

Coming back with the car on board, you will have a 37 mile slight grade to the top, then hang on on the way to the bottom... 7 mile drop.

Mike and his brother Joe are good people.  Joe just gets a little agitated when he gets reminded about when my Interstate smoked his in a little speed contest at the CBR a few years ago.  tickedoff

We are in Sacramento CA. Finally made it. 2 and a half days and over 2200 miles.
Left home on Sunday afternoon. Got to Des Moines IA at 9PM. RJ got us a room at a Motel 6 and even payed for it. Thanks again RJ. Left IA at 6 the next morning. Over a 1000 miles later we rolled into Salt Lake city Utah. That was a long day. Nebraska is one flat state and Wyoming is one big HILL.  Both Wyoming and Utah have some really beautiful scenery. WOW. When we left Salt Lake City we stopped at the Bonneville salt flats. Took a pic with my truck on the salt. Very cool. Chris got some fantastic pics along the way as well. He will post them when we get home. Got into Sacramento at 6:30PM  local time. Been a long three days. After we get the sidecar rig into Mike Hann's truck tomorrow we will go pick up the car. Then it's onto F106s (Bill Emery) house in Fresno for dinner and BS sessions, LOL. Thursday we get up early and start all over again for the trip home. Going the southern route on the way back. Less mountains to climb on 40. Oh BTW RJ. Donner pass sucks. 80 across Donner pass is the WORST interstate I have ever been on. Very beautiful scenery though.
Oh yea after three days with two guys in it eating on the go, my truck smells like feet. Except for breakfast this morning at the hotel in Salt lake tonight was the first sit down meal we had. Had dinner at a Chinese place not far from the hotel. More later if we get a hotel with wifi...
