Yes I know I have a broken kickstand spring but the kickstand is bungeed up

bike in neutral

it cranks and for the first second it feels like the bike wanted to move

no clunking noise whatsoever so not thinking about hydrolock

BigBF  just rebuilt petcock 3000 miles ago

Does this sound like starter gone bad

What to check  Gman is on the way over now as we were going to do the spring this morning

Have not ridden this bike since completing my trip

dang bike only has around 94000 on it.

Need to order asap to make inzane

Thanks

Not quite sure what you are saying.

1.  Starter died, but then you say it cranks.

2.  You say the bike starts to move.    What does that mean?  Why would the bike move.

If it cranks over, but won't start, hook up jumper cables to a car battery, with the motor off.  Try again.

I have had a couple batteries go bad.  Cranks good, but will not start.  Put in a new battery, and all is well.

Here, read this thread from last week. It applies to your situation.

And yes. Your battery needs to be replaced.

Well in order of importance

Bike started
Kickstand replaced
Thanks Melvin for the call.  I had the battery on the charger by the time you called

Gman said it sounded starved for gas

Bike has been sitting since April 8th when I returned   I suppose that there was not sufficient
gas in the bowls to start the bike and battery was run too far down.

Its a new battery, replaced over the winter, ran fine all thru my trip

As for the kickstand, the piece of steel hook on the kickstand was sheared off from the incident in Alabama  So using the spring I got from BigMike would not help

Fortunately I had an entire kickstand assembly that I got when I went to cape cod 3 yrs ago and bought the rear end, bags, rails and wheel and final drive off a 2000 blue two tone interstate

We did use the new spring I got from Mike just because its new and the old spring and bolt are in my saddlebag in case a friend has a problem one day

Ricky thanks for the post
