Hard 6 has done a lot of very fine chrome work for me.  Super nice guy and outstanding workmanship.

I have also considered this.  It is a job best done in Winter, and when you need one or both tires replaced anyway.

Because I have OE hardbags, I had also decided that while not as pretty as chrome, the smart move would be a low maintenance powder coat in a mat-silver finish (for a fast black bike).  I am not a fan of gloss colored wheels, but it is personal choice and depends on the color/s of the bike.

One thing I have never heard of is anyone who enjoys cleaning and polishing the rear wheel on a hard bagged Valk.  My back hurts just thinking about it.

JP is your man. If not done right you'll have problems with bearing installation and such.  JP knows his stuff. cooldude

And I believe the wheels he sends you have new bearings installed.

I think you're right but I wasn't sure so I didn't mention it. I've ridden with JP and partied with him. He is a straight shooter and knows his stuff.

So is JP and Hard6 the same person, or do we have two different recomendations?  Undecided

Also, can he/they fix or rechrome a rear brake caliper that is flaking?

Thanks.  Smiley

Yessir Duffy, JP and Hard6 are the same person. Don't know about the brake caliper.

I think I struck a chord with the rear wheel on Valk baggers.

The older we get, the less likely we enjoy any enterprise that requires bending, kneeling or stooping.

Getting it up on the jack helps, but you are still bending and reaching while exerting greatly.  I have also tried jacking it up higher and laying underneath, but this makes me nervous.  It is like some kind of orthopedic torture.

I am against this in principle, but may hire an illegal to do it next time (half of El Salvador lives in my neighborhood).  They want the work, and I have the money.  Local kids are out....I haven't seen a kid doing any physical labor in my neighborhood for years.  Growing up (here it comes), the boys in the neighborhood went door to door and fought over the available work....which was mostly hard, dirty and a buck an hour.  Now where did I leave my bifocals........
