I've got one for both the rider and pillion. As long as the pressure is "right", then they help. You have to experiment on what is "right" for your butt. And Joe makes a good point about sitting you a bit higher in the saddle.

if you are riding too high try letting some air out. i've found that too much air sits me too high and is almost as uncomfortable as the stock seat can get after a while. my cushion looks almost void of air but once i sit on it, it is just enough to fill in the areas that need it. really, it doesn't take very much air at all. oh,i us it for a while, then take it off, then put it back on etc. anything gets uncomfortable after a while.

I also agree they do tend to sit you a liitle high my trouble was that with very little air it seem to push out forward and put pressure on the boys making for a very sensitive ride.

I've had one for several years, and like the right seat, risers and controls, it is one of the greatest upgrades to the ride you can get. No other seat pad comes close to the comfort. You are floating on air, and unlike any other pad, it lets air get under your azz. I use it year round, except for cold weather, and is exceptional in the hot muggy VA summers. Makes six/eight hour days easy. I've used it on mustang, lowboy and bigboy. No matter how good your seat is, it makes the ride better. I recommend the medium, which fits most Valk rider solo seats perfectly, the large has a longer nose which will go up on the tank (or push you away from the driver's backrest) and crowd the 'boys'; moreso with the Ultimates. (unless you are perhaps very large) You can adjust the position on the seat while riding; on the lowboy it goes all the way back, but on the bigboy, I have to slide if forward a bit to get a good fit against the driver's backrest.
Like any good boy scout knows, you don't fully inflate your air mattress for a good sleep. Somewhere around half full is optimal, and I go to 2/3 to 3/4 on the hottest muggiest days. It does raise you on the seat about half an inch or a little more, but this is also good (for me) with a stock IS fairing and shield. I tried it fully inflated and hard braking made me roll up on the tank. The cover bottom is very nonslip rubber and I never tied mine down, just throw it in the bags at a stop (so it doesn't get lifted).
One thing....Last Aug I was riding standing up on the boards to get the radiator effect and had a car pull out in front of me, and slammed down onto the airhawk to make evasive maneuvers, and blew out the side seam. Tried several times to rubber cement the blowout with no luck. I called ROHO (airhawk) direct and told them what happened and where the blowout was. I was one month past the warranty, but the gal said they might fix it or replace it on warranty anyway and to send it in. I did, and right away got contacted that side seam blowouts could never be repaired and for the 'inspection fee' and shipping (like $45), I could have it back. One month past warranty was just TFB. This was a pure scam, and it pissed me off. They are expensive and I felt I could have repaired it if I used glue and tight stitching, but I wouldn't pay their scam. I got a replacement used, but it is the old version with smaller air bubbles, the new large bubbles are much better. Moral: it is a tough product, but you can blow one out if you slam down on it.....and don't trust ROHO (they had no motorcycle friendly attitude, it was all about money).
