Hey Fellow Valk Riders, So I have a big trip coming up and started to notice on my last hour + ride that I'm not all that comfortable and decided I want risers. My issue is, I just spent $500 in parts/toys and really don't want to break the bank on them (cheaping out, I know). I have done my research on the boards and found that the Lamonster, Aeromach and even the HD Deuce are amongst the most popular options. I'm fairly handy and am confident I could work around the Deuce risers, though I'd like to avoid extending cables if at all possible (I know they now make hardware that prevents drilling out the TT holes wider). That leaves me with the Aeromach and Lamonster for a 4" "straight install" without modifications (as far as I know). I found the Aeromachs on their website for $155+, however I cannot find the lamonsters ANYWHERE! The one place I did find them, they were sold out with no price listed. Are they discontinued? I know I should stay away from the $40 stuff on ebay with something as important as steering. Any other ideas/products would be much appreciated. I'm not opposed to installing the Deuces, however, I just wanted to try and avoid altering any cabling. Thanks! 98' Fast Black Std Valk I'm 5'10, 200lbs so about 1.5"-2" back on the bars would be perfect. Found these... Not sure if its a "too good to be true" deal or not... http://www.ebay.com/itm/Show-Chrome-4-Tall-Round-Risers-Universal-for-1-1-4-Bar-/151286862877?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item233966541d&vxp=mtr

LaMonster were made for and sold by HDL (Honda Direct Line), recently sold and now with a new sucky website. They are identical to Aeromach Honda pullback risers, but were $10-20 cheaper. I could not find them on their site either. You can call and ask. I have twice emailed them and asked why they shut down the old valk specific parts site, and told them a thousand of us want it back. Received an apology and an interest in our business, but I don't see the old HDL coming back. Off to Amazon for me. BTW years ago when I ordered from Aeromach and asked for a break, they gave me %10 off just for asking. Also, the risers in your link are for 1.25" handlebars, not our one-inch bars. (Those Show Chrome also come in one-inch bar sets too) You can get generic 4" risers for metric one-inch Hbar cruisers many places, but they are not as well made and strong as the Aeromachs. You can find heavy duty risers for valk at Scootworks. http://www.scootworks.com/shop.cgi/page=partshonhandle.htm/SID=PUT_SID_HEREIf you choose the 5.5" Deuce knockoff risers, they are about half the price of the others. You can get riser conversion bolts to mount without drilling the riser holes (CruiserCustomising), and you can get big washers to use/shim instead of grinding/filing off the Oring style riser bases (but I think grinding them flush is stronger), and you do not have to change any hoses/cables, but you do have to pull the throttle cables inside the triple tree. (loosen the bars in the riser clamps, slide them sideways left, remove throttle control housing intact and move the whole assembly around inside the tree as a unit). They will still be snug with the Hbar at full lock, and need checked to make sure you don't goose the throttle at full lock unintentionally after install, but will work.

I use real, take off HD Deuce risers. Ebay usually has them. Lots of HD riders switch them for others. IMHO, they are MUCH better quality than the knockoffs. Just run the cables behind the 3-trees. I paid around $50 for each of 3 sets. MP

Lamonster's aren't made anymore. When HDL was still advertising them, I ordered a set. I received Aeromachs, which, as has been mentioned, are identical. I called HDL, and they told me the Lamonsters were no longer available. I'm happy with the Aeromachs.

Deuce risers and an interstate throttle housing from Pinwall did it for me no re-routing and no problems with tight cables on lock. The deuce mounting bolts can be turned into metric studs easily, just cut the head off the bolt and then use a metric died to put the thread on the unthreaded portion of the bolt. Take it right up to the imperial thread and it slots right in, or it did for me. IIRC it is 12 x 1.25 for the metric thread which is not the standard it is finer pitch than a normal 12mm thread.

I went with the Scootworks Phatrisers II. They are heavy duty and you can get them in polished, or chrome, or black if you choose. No rerouting of cables. They will set you up about 2" and about 3" back. That was just what I needed, especially when on a longer ride for comfort. Sometimes they wil have a scratch & dent sale & can find them for around $100.00. +1 on MP's suggestion about HD Deuce riser take-offs from any of the dealers.

Big Bike Parts offered a riser that was 1/2" taller than the OEM part and had 1/2" of pullback. I have them on our '99 Tourer, so Blondie could reach the bars a bit easier. The bar position seems to work well for both of us - and my arms are a bit longer than hers.

Thanks a lot folks. I appreciate all of your input. I think I'm going to opt for the real HD Deuce risers. Looks like Pinwall's site is down and they are reverting everything to ebay. If anyone has a picture of the re-route for the throttle cables or a part number/supplier for the Interstate Throttle Housing, I think I would be in business. I think I'm just having a hard time visualizing how the cable(s) would need to be rerouted. I believe they are currently running along the right side of the forks and you all are saying to re-rout them through the bottom/underneath for a little extra length. Since I'm at work (on the boards) and it's a rainy day here in TX I can't just go out and look at her to see.
Thanks

I ordered the Deuce risers and the SAE/Metric mounting bolt adapters last week. They should both be in on Tuesday/Wednesday, so I can get them mounted before our long ride trip on Friday! Finally got my Ergo II highway pegs adjusted the way I like them and with my Ultimate seat, the risers should make it a PERFECT "lazy-boy" setup for the highways (though hopefully not too far back for the twisties)! Thanks Folks!
