In 2011 I'm taking my dream motorcycle vacation and need your help. Once I get to San Diego I'll be driving the entire coast to the northwestern corner of Washington.

I'm compiling a list of must stop here and must eat here destinations.  So please give me your input, website addresses if available.

I'll do the contacts info when the time draws nearer for anybody that wants to meet up along the way.

I'm taking off saturday of Memorial Day Weekend 2011, Tucumcari NM is my second stop on the way to San Diego.

Thanks Andy

Well Andy if your headed down I44 a stop at Lamberts in Ozark Mo is a must. it is just a few miles south of I44 on US65. The food is great, but there is usually a pretty long wait to get in.

In Long Beach Washington state, across the bridge from Astoria Oregon, out on the piece of land which is seperated from the main land by Wilapa Bay, you will find awsome seafood at "Doogers Seafood and Grill".  Best oysters I have ever eaten!!

Almost any food establishment with trucks or a lot of cars up that route has good food.

I'd name some, but they are probably closed up now.   I Left there in 86, and not many places last that long anymore.

Gulliver's in Irvine.  The Prime Rib is awesome!  Make sure to get the creamed corn... they're famous for it!

From Northbound Hwy 1, as you approach Newport Beach, turn right on MacArthur Blvd... it's about 5.5 miles (on the right, I believe).

In San Diego county there is a locally famous place (weekends only) called "The Hideout" on highway 76 (east of I-15).Hundreds of bikers are there every weekend.
Hell's Kitchen on the Ortega Highway (west of !-15).Tons of chrome go there on weekends.
Cook's Corner is another big hangout in Orange County.
I left about 4 years ago so check it out first.

If you are really hungry you might want to try the Samoa Cookhouse in Eureka, Ca.

Well brother when you get to the central coast/Santa Barbara area there's a whole bunch of good eats around, here's a few in the area:

http://palacegrill.com/ (outstanding pasta dishes and cajun food)

http://santabarbara.enterprisefishco.com/fishco.html  Excellent seafood

http://www.sbfishhouse.com/ More seafood and a great happy hour!

http://www.zodobowl.com/ bowling alley, yeah, but great happy hour and a HUGE selection of beers

Once you get up farther on the coast, in Cambria, there's a few places.  Main Street Grill is good:

http://www.seecambria.com/diningset.htm

And, if you're into taking pics and such, Hearst Castle is awesome:

http://www.hearstcastle.com/

Hopefully we can share some road once you are coming through.  Stay in touch!

P.S. Geez how can I forget the Rock Store in Malibu?  MAJOR bike & car hangout.  Jay Leno drops by all the time:

http://www.rock-store.com/

This would be a good place to meet up with some of the local Cali VRCC'ers for a ride up the coast.

Well... I am sure you probably won't drive through kansas, since all the negative posts of how "boring" kansas is!!!  Cry But, there is a small place in Allen,ks Main Street Pub and Grill...  It's a ma and pop place that has amazing food and great folks to visit with.  The town doesn't even have a gas station so you know for a place to stay open in a town like that they have to serve good food...  Hwy99 adn hwy56 just west on hwy 56 for about 5 miles...  I go there everytime someone travels in to my area.  They love it...  But... "It's kansas"  Cheesy

i know your looking for west coast food, so i cant help you there. but if you decide to come to the north east there is a whole slew of good eats here, like browns lobsta pound in seabrook nh, the gloucester house in gloucester mass, markis steak house in loudon nh,and for desert there is johnson's icecream stand in northwood nh the have home made icecream.( but you better leave room for it cause thier kiddie size equals a pint and the portions just get larger)

Kansas is part of the return trip after visiting my brother in Colorado on the way home to Illinois. How far south is Allen from hwy 70?

The northeast is another trip. I lived in Dover nh for 18 months in the early 90's so I have to come back and ride those roads and eat that food. I miss New England.

AND, if you stay the night in Tucumcari, Dinner at KIX like Ben said, but Del's for breakfast is a must.  There is an OFC making 'world saving' decisions at the front of the diner every morning.  You wouldn't want to miss it.  DaveinFrisco, Janet, and myself really enjoyed the food and the freindly waitress.  Oh, yea, there is good music playing in the background to enjoy while you eat...

NY State, Route 97 along the Delaware River to Cedar Rapids Camp Ground and Pub
Great ride  from Port Jervis  north, right on the tri state Delaware water gap. Good food drink very Biker friendly, right on the water.
Shawangunk Wine Trail, Big Dave's Family Bar B Que in Goshen
Great scenic views, you don't even have to stop at the vineyards. Really good BBQ and a great guy!
