Quick question, the o-ring that resides in the final drive. There are two grooves that the o-ring can slide right in to. One at the very bottom and one just short of the half way mark. Which is correct? It seems most of the time during periodic rear end service its at the bottom grove.

On a side note, I had picked up a used final drive a while back and it had an o-ring in both final drive grooves.  Undecided  That was a first for me.

Thanks.

Are you talking about the elusive third Oring?   Do these pics help?

One in the drive, one on the wheel and one on the flange...

Yup, understand the 3, thanks.

It's the elusive o-ring's actual position I was questioning. From the link to the maint write up it looks from the pic posted to be in the almost halfway groove spot vs the groove at the very base.

I didn't even know there was a groove at the base. I've been putting mine in the groove about half way in. Hope I've been doing it correct.

I'm guessing it gets pushed down to the lower groove when jostled around during wheel removal (or maybe even those struggling installs). It caught me off guard. And like I mentioned, just to throw me off, there was an o-ring in both the halfway groove and the bottom groove on the used final drive I'd picked up a while ago.   ???
