I just done my fork seals and used 10w.  I have the Progressive springs...seems to ride OK.  So if you still have the original springs, it might ride firmer.

I had to do my seals twice. Angry  I put the oil seals in upside down.  When I did the job again, I used the dipstick method of measuring the oil level and determined that the first time, I had way too much oil in because I put in the recommended amount in ounces the first time.  So the second time around, they took considerably less oil to get to the correct level.

I rebuilt 6 sets of forks last year. Some put in Progressives and some did not. My Tourer got Prog springs and all 6 bikes got 15 wt oil. Only one owner (6'8" 240lbs) complained that on a hard bump it had a jolt through the bars. No other complaints.
