I haven't been bullied since I was a kid, with one notable instance. I was working at a window and door mill in Oregon and the machine operator liked to act like a big man.

he pushed me one time, I told him if he ever touched me again I'd send him to the hospital.

in a calm matter of fact voice...... Evil

ya know he never did.....

I have had the same kind of crap go on in my life and I found
that what I did worked after a few times.
Take him aside and tell him you are a professional and do the best
at your job that can be done and you would like to be talked to like
one man should talk to another.
Trying this my find that part of he is missing.

I've stayed away from this discussion, weeder.  I'm not certain my experience would be valuable for you.  I've always been valuable enough to my current employer and to the field at large that I didn't have to put up with any workplace mistreatment.

You've received some very wise counsel here.  You've also been offered some really stupid advice.  I'll leave it to you to decide which is which.

Good fortune to you on your job today.  What is established in relationships today and in the very near future will either remain with you for a long time or evolve quickly into a thing of the past.

First, sounds like you intimidate him for some reason and there is a push to maybe get you out the door? Is this a union shop or are you an "at will employee"?  Takes time to get "unionized" if its a union shop so right now you are in a comprimising position.
IF you walk around him and go to a higher up you may as well walk out the door. I would go to him when he isn't having PMS and ask him: "what did I do to piss you off"? IF you get no satisfaction from him or he berates you them move up, but not before you confront him personally one on one and alone.
IF that doesn't work then move up the ranks and call for a meeting with him and his boss.
Jobs are hard to find so I'd stand my ground but try the civil approach. Ya socking him in the eye would give you personal satisfaction but in the end you lower yourself to his standards and you will be jobless and possibly in jail for assault? Don't hit him! All you have to do is touch him and that pretty much dictates assault. Push or punch doesn't matter. That action will follow you from that point on and be in your records should someone call about a reference. Documentation in this case is a he said she said at best.

Well at work today when  I interacted with this  guy he had a  180 degree attitude change  from prior for the better.
Like I said  , told   the main boss to have a talk  with him and I  think he did just that.

As always   -- THANKS VRCC ROCKS

Most likely the H.R. have had complaints before. If not the H.R. could be long time work buddies. He may take you as a treat of taking his job. If older probably feels you younger is there to replace him. I worked with a couple bosses that wouldnt tell us anything and left us in the dark thinking it was job security for them. I did however, as you saw in your younger days I worked in a furniture factory and told the super that next time he came up behind me smarting off I was going to accidently knock the hell out of him with a bed post. He came bk later that day and *Shouted across plant they want to see you in the personnel office. That was my last day. They went on strike 2 weeks later. We sugared his tank. Damn the good ole days were nice.

I got in a pretty good fight on a factory floor when I was in my twenty's. I took a pretty good beating and gave a good one back. Had the back of my head slammed into an auger screw shaft hard enough that I lost my vision temporary. Was then thrown off a 5' platform and landed on my back on the floor. When my head hit the concrete I got my vision back in time to avoid getting choked as the other guy jumped off the platform and landed on my chest. Then the fight was back on. Although nobody important witnessed it, I wound up loosing the job a month or two after that and it was because of the fight, I'm sure. I live in a small town, everybody knows everybody, the economy was bad at the time. I was out of work for nearly a year.

I was in the right and have never been able to let someone walk on me but that was an expensive fight. That year without working nearly cost me every damn thing. In our modern age when LEO's are called to school yard fights the repercussions would be worse I imagine. I'm not saying kicking his ass might not be the right answer. I can't answer that. I can say that sometimes a win is still a loss.
