Why would anyone shave a cow like that?

Okay, my one political post.

Things got screwed up with the drivers this morning and I had to work at the staff house today instead of at the base.  Just going out to smoke a cigarette on the balcony, I got to watch 3 people make a buffet out of our garbage can today.

This was actually the second guy and after he finished, he put the garbage bag back in the can (everyone else just spreads it and leaves it).  I had 5 pieces of fruit in the room that I tossed down to him and got a thumbs up.

I mean, you gotta think that 3 people made a meal out of what we threw away.  Somebody had asked that I post a picture (a long time ago) of the waterfalls of garbage that I talked about in Luanda....Well, here you go.....All of that grey in the background is garbage.  I work at the bottom of the hill and live up there at the top.

Of course, if you want a close up view...... (remember that almost 70% don't have electricity or running water - they drink and wash in this stuff).

So, I reckon as long as I am not the 4th person to have to make a meal out of our garbage can - WE SHOULD ALL CONSIDER OURSELVES BLESSED!

I know I do!!!!

Thank ya Geezer and Lisa!  That is the way I feel.  Man, I guess I gotta make another political post this evening.  Folks, we wrote some great documents a couple of hundred years ago that allows us to be who we are and govern who we are and what we stand for.  Other governments did it before we did and it still works (Europe). I sure am not going to post my political beliefs on a MC board - heck, I don't know how my wife votes and she don't know how I do - that is why we do it behind a curtain. No matter what the systems we have in America, Canada, UK....etc....are, there are worse ways we could be governed.  Feel BLESSED - no matter what, because we have proven so many times in the past, since ancient times, that changes can be made by the PEOPLE if PEOPLE feel that changes are needed.  Just stay the course...either things will get better or we will make changes - it always happens - and all of us, unlike others, can make changes - some don't have the privelages to do it in other countries.  That was the RIGHTS those great pieces of paper gave us.  Ain't it grand???? I sure think it is!

Other than that, like I said, if I am not having to be the 4th to make a meal out of my garbage can in Angola and I can at least think that "all men (and women) are egual" - I AM BLESSED and BLESSED I know I am.  Everything else just seems trivial to me for some reason - maybe it is going on 1 1/2 years here now.

I know I have covered a huge chunk of this land and I have met AWESOME folks everywhere I have gone.  That alone will give us what we need to make it through any obstacle in the future - the people.  I just had another extension put in my passport and let me tell you, internationally, we tend to take one person in some cases and think that an entire culture is based on that person - MAN, there are AWESOME FOLKS EVERYWHERE!  I MEAN EVERYWHERE!!! It gives me hope for the World!!!!!  My brother Biju just arrived from India today - and trust me he is a "brother from another mother" to me so my time here will fly by now.  I am the only American here and I am surrounded by people that have earned my respect - not easily given.  We will survive this global economic crisis just like all the others before.  I also feel that some of the cultural crisis will cease as well.

Some of my finest friends are from Canada, UK, Russia, Nigeria, Egypt, Turkminiestan, India (and that is just here) - Haven't quite figured out exactually where HARD6 is from......Cajun is hard to define!!!!  Grin

The world is going through tough times right now, but ya know what?  We are going to come out on the other side stronger than we were.....

Trust me, it could be worse.  We have hopes and dreams (and no matter what, we are allowed to have them and express them).  Life really is GRAND!

Anyway, enough of the Soap Box.  Ride safe brothers and sisters (or at least have fun). Proud of my culture and background (and you can't get more Southern) and proud to call many other cultures friends as well!!!!!!!

PLUS, THROW YOUR DAMN LEGS OVER A SADDLE AND RIDE UP TO MICHIGAN OR MINNESOTA IN A COUPLE OF WEEKS!!!!!  We gotta a couple of Southern folks gonna invade the Great White North and see how cultures clash!!!  Grin Grin Grin

It ain't perfect what we got, but it is what we got and all of us can make a change if need be I reckon. Until then, folks got it worse - that I know.

RIDE ON!!!!! And I will see some of you Northern Folks soon!!!  Oh yeah, TP, I reckon you got at least one guy riding in from Canada as well.......

WHOOOOOOOOOOOO-HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!  Gonna be a hoot!!!
