I recently purchased a 4x4 Harbor Freight trailer to tow with my 98 1500CT w/ a CSC trike
setup. The trailer has a 5 wire harness w/ 4 pins and my Valk has a 6pin connector. How do I
convert this mess to something that WORKS?  Anybody have any ideas? Thanks!

Well oldfart,, it is pretty straight forward,,  the connectors on the trailer and bike have to be the same. That means replacing one on either end or both of them to get a match and rewire and dress them properly. They do make some adapters for some configurations, try auto parts stores, but that adds another piece and potential problems. I would just bite the bullet and re do the wiring with soldered or crimped connectors.

I would have to respectfully disagree completely with Pancho. What you need is an electronic converter. Your bike has separate running light, left turn, right turn, and brake light circuits. With the ground wire that's five wires. The converter takes your brake signal and integrates it with the left and right turn signals, sending everything out to a standard four-pin trailer connector. Many of them require power directly from the bike battery, ensuring the trailer lights do not overload the bike's light wiring.

Thanks guys.
This trike looks like the purple & white trike for sale in the classifieds! The rear tail lites are from the trunk of an 85 GL 1200A and the 2 center pieces are located in the rear hatch. The problem is
someone hand wired the rear harness. All my rear lites work on the Valk and I found all the wires except for the rt. turn. Can I wire it off of the bike lite itself or should I go all the way back to the main harness and remake my own harness?

Thanks Again!

If using a powered converter, you can source your inputs from any place on the appropriate wires that feed the bike's lights. If you have confidence in the rear wire harness, there is no reason to re-do it.

"Can I wire it off of the bike lite itself or should I go all the way back to the main harness and remake my own harness?"      What does the existing wiring look like oldfart?? If it is not up to par, I would remove it and build my own harness and do it correctly, that way you would know what you have.

Sometimes it needs to be done with a stick to get my attention Gryphon Rider,,,  If there is not a tail light converter already wired in on the bike oldfart, you will certainly need one to go to a four wire circuit as Gryphon Rider and Tank posted, then you will need matching connectors.  Forgive my in attention guys.

is the 6 pin a round connector on the bike?

if so.. there is a 6 pin to 4 pin adaptor. Might be the easiest way to go...

Thanks to ALL who responded. I've decided to go w/a hoppy #46225 powered converter. I have never seen so many wires on a bike that don't go anywhere and do absolutely n ;Dothing al all!

Got rid of all the junk, power back to the hitch, and trailer is ready to go! Smiley Smiley
