Added risers to my interstate then noticed throttle cables were to tight. Took the throttle assembly apart to move cables behind triple tree and broke off the plastic piece holding the round end of the throttle cable. Where do i find one,,, Please. I was done with 2 weeks of work and ready to ride, UGH

And how do I put those little round throttle cable ends without doing the same thing?

On the plastic throttle tube? If so I think you have no choice but to order a new one. Might get lucky with a dealer having one in stock.

You will have to replace the entire hand grip, but it is used on several different models the dealer should have one in stock.

I broke off half of the circular piece on the white part of the grip, cleaning the starter switch.

I carefully reassembled it and rode with it for a month, that way, with no issue. When I finally replaced the grip I had to loosen both cables at the adjustment point on the left side between the front and middle carb. You will have to remove the chrome cover over the "choke" (enrichment) mechanism to make it easier to get to the adjustment point.

Also test how tight the cables are by turning the handle bars from lock-to-lock.

If the higher risers make the cables too tight, then you'll need to buy longer cables. If I remember the talk correctly, the IS model already has the longest cables, and is already routed where the std/Tourer model owners move theirs to, to get away with using their stock cables.

You guys made life so difficult on yourselves by forgetting one thing.  Move the handlebars (un bolt the dog bone holding the bars to the risers) now you have all the room in the world.

You shouldnt have had to mess with the throttle cables at all to get the starter switch out.

Work smarter not harder

I replaced the "Throttle Grip Assembly" last weekend. That is both the grip and the plastic tube that connects the push/pull cables.  I bought it new at my local dealer (Rosenau Powersports) for a total cost of $16.10.

I paid quite a bit more for the opposite grip on another one of my Valks.

I have found that the local dealer has always beat internet OEM parts prices, not so on tires, batteries, or accessories.

Chris is right.Wrap a piece of masking tape around the bar at the left side of the riser.Now make a mark where the cap splits.Loosen and slide the bar up and to the left and your grip and switches are free.The tape will let index your bars back to where they started.
