I know I've read a fix for this on the board and I've done a search and can't find it. When I use my mp3 player, I get engine ticking through the speakers. Any help would be appreciated.

On my 98 Tourer I had a similar problem. I'm playing an MP3 through the Honda CB control mounted on the left handlebar.
Flicking the thumb lever I get CH (channel), Vol (volumn) and Com (comunicate ?) not sure.
After giving up I was playing with the thumb lever and Com was showing 5. As I reduced that number it went to 1 or 0 and then Off.
Suprise the noise cleared and nothing but music. 5 must be a factory setting every time I restart I have to go to Com and reduce it to Off and all is well again.
The CB unit is a Clarion.

I have the factory unit on my Interstate and  and as far as I can see, it doesn't have a Com option.

Try one of these.

I use one on my interstate for audio on the GPS.

Do a search for noise filter.

I found this latest one from earlier this month. Don't remember if anyone ever did post that they fixed it.

If it's wired up the left side of the bike ( clutch side ) move the wire to the right side ( front brake ) . Mine did the same after moving the wire ( FIXED ) .It's getting the tic from the coil .

Tick or whine?  Tick would be sparkplug as mentioned earlier and re-routing the cable should help.

Whine is ground or alternator..

Try re-routing first as it is the easiest.

Thanks I'll try moving the cable, quick fix, as it is running underneath the left side of the tank. If not, I'll try a noise filter.

Thanks for the replies.
