Checked the plugs on Ruby yesterday, all had indications of running lean. Kind of ash white in color.
Never broke into the carbs on her since i just put her on the road for the first time. Is there a way with out taking off the tank?

98 standard.

First thing is to set the pilots at 2.25 turns and see if that helps. Right now thats the first and easiest thing to do.
Let us know what happens.

Getting to the pilots, does that mean take off tank?

keep in mind youll also get ash white on your plugs if youre using ethanol fuel. since fastrac sells non  ethanol now i rarely use e10 unless im out of town but i wont even park her for a few days without at least topping off with the good stuff.

After the last post I checked the collars around the intakes. They were ALL loose. So I tightened them up. Ran her for about 60 miles. Gonna run some more next few days and check them on Monday.
Most of the popping and back fires are gone. But she still might need some more tuning to get straight.

The stock Valkyrie engine is not a lean running engine.

It actually runs a little on the rich side.

Aftermarket exhaust systems tend to make the engine run "just right"

If you think your engine is running lean, the best thing

you can do is run a large doses of gasoline additive for many tanks of fuel.

If the engine WAS running well, there is no need to start making adjustments

and doing so will simply make the task more difficult, while all that is needed

is to clear up the contamination of using crappy fuel.
