I insert the ignition key in the key hole that's under the gas tank, turn it clockwise about 1/4 turn 'till it stops. With my fr ee hand I've pulled, pushed, tugged, and pryed with my fingers evey which way I can think of with no luck. I can feel a little up and down movement. It's Corbin seat. I called the last owner, but he apparently never had the seat off..... I'm 62 years young. Do I need to wait a while longer before I'm ready for a Valk?

No need to wait! Just take the left hand Side Cover off and undo the 10mm bolt that holds the Overflow bottle to the frame. Just pull the bottle out a bit so you an get your hand inside, grab the short cable and follow it up until you reach the seat release mechanism. A quick twist of your fingers and you should be able to release your seat. Sometimes the cable stretches, but you just need to see if the cable needs to be re-positioned. Hope this helps

Mike, Corbin seats can fit very tightly at the latch area, and many people have to shim the latch loop on the front of the seat to make them latch properly. If the previous owner(s) didn't do that, un-latching can be difficult. The key to removing a difficult seat is downward pressure near the front of the seat. Pulling up will make it worse. While turning the key, make a great big fist, and pound down on the seat just behind where the tank ends, or get a friend to press down very hard there. If that doesn't work, then the previously mentioned procedure should be used. Once you have the seat off, remove the loop on the front of the seat & place some washers under it to make it work properly

I have 2 Valkyries and had to disconnect the cable at the key latch on both bikes. I now just pop off the side cover and pull the cable by hand. Then the tab on the center cover broke, so I had to velcro the front of the side cover(s) to keep them on! I don't mind, though, I own two of the most beautiful bikes ever made, little intricacies are no big deal.

Had a Buddy come through town a few years ago & stopped. He also had a Corbin seat.
To make a long story short, at lunch he left his driving lights on, We came back out it was deader than a popcorn f**t.
I had to straddle the bike and shove down as hard as my 280# would let me, with a whole goob of persuasion it cane loose. When he left we had some very shinny washers under the latch, & it would pop loose with just the turn of the key.

I had a problem with releasing my seat. The latch adjustment was fine and the seat itself was not the problem. All I had to do after I got the seat off was to lubricate the cable. It has worked very easily since then.

Sorry I haven't replied to the tips sooner...Been helping my homebound wife.
I still don't have the seat off. Tried pressing and pushing down on the front with no success....going to try Geeza's instructions next.
Thanks for the suggestions! I really appreciate them!

Had the same problem Monday, first time in 6 yrs. Removed the left side cover, then the front, removed the key lock end of the cable, lubed it and made sure the routing was good. Works ike a champ. Good Luck.

THE CABLE THAT RUNS FROM THE LOCK TO THE LATCH IS JUNK. I REMOVED MINE RIGHT AFTER I WAS STOPPED FOR SPEEDING AND COULD NOT GET THE SEAT OFF. I then used a long cable tie, I put it through the latch and made a cicle out of it. It sits on top of the plate that has the key lock in it(the lock you normally use to get the seat off). I now just reach under the front of the seat and pull the cable tie and the seat pops right off. I have had it set up this way for 10 years with the same cable tie w/o any problems. I threw the streched out oem cable away. Can't lock it but never worried about that.
